Responsible Play: Limits and Support

If gambling or casino-style play is causing stress, secrecy, financial strain or difficulty stopping, support is available. You do not need to reach a particular loss amount before asking for help.

Find confidential support

The National Council on Problem Gambling lists call, text and chat support through its national helpline. Use the official source below for current contact options and services. Its helpline can help identify local support resources. CasinoKnowHow is an information site and does not provide counseling or crisis assessment.

If there is immediate danger, contact local emergency services. Do not wait for an email response from this website.

Set boundaries before starting

Decide a time limit and a spending limit in advance. Keep rent, bills, transport and savings separate from gaming funds. Avoid borrowing to continue, and avoid changing the limit to recover an earlier loss. Stop conditions should apply to wins as well as losses.

Account tools may include deposit limits, time reminders, breaks, closure or exclusion. Availability depends on the provider and jurisdiction. Read what each tool actually blocks, how long it lasts and whether it applies to related accounts. A reminder is different from a hard block.

Understand the scope of self-exclusion

Self-exclusion can be offered by a regulator, a group of participating venues or a single provider. It does not automatically cover every casino, social app or promotional service. Consult the official regulator for your jurisdiction and the service’s published account procedures. Keep confirmation records and ask how breaches or marketing messages should be reported.

A technical block can be one part of a broader support plan. It is not a substitute for professional help when play feels uncontrollable. Consider involving a trusted person in practical support if you are comfortable doing so.

Supporting someone else

Listen without treating losses as a character judgment. Encourage contact with a qualified support service. Avoid promising to solve the problem through a new betting system or an expected-value calculation. Our tools illustrate models and cannot make gambling predictable.

Use the official support source for current options. We do not collect helpline conversations, monitor an operator account or act as a third party in an exclusion request.
