Two Dice Probability Calculator
Two fair six-sided dice have 36 equally likely ordered outcomes. This tool counts the outcomes that produce a selected total and shows the fraction and percentage.
Why ordered pairs matter
A first die showing 1 with a second die showing 6 is a different ordered result from 6 and 1. Both sum to seven. Counting only unordered pairs would undercount totals with different faces. The full list makes the assumption visible.
For total six the five ordered pairs are 1+5, 2+4, 3+3, 4+2 and 5+1. Its probability is therefore 5/36, about 13.89%. Total two has only 1+1, giving 1/36, about 2.78%. Totals from two through twelve do not have equal chances.
The assumptions
The dice are fair, each face has probability one sixth, and the dice are independent. The tool is not a physical-dice test. If the dice are weighted or dependent, these results do not apply. It also calculates one roll rather than the chance of completing an entire craps round.
Use the craps guide to see how repeated rolls and a point change the question. A per-roll probability and a probability of making a point before seven are different calculations.
